We're feeling BLUE

CY: I don't quite remember when we decided to add a theme to a new series of Co-Lab panels, but I'm glad we landed on 'blue.' Val (as usual) got things going with this photo (iceberg she photographed in Newfoundland) block floating on a blue-d wood grain ground. It immediately resonated 'strange lands' with me, so I pushed that feeling further with some architecture in the form of beading and a decorative 'grille' of acrylic paint.
Is it done, Val? I think it could use another layer....

Tag You're It

Stage 4
C: I was wondering what I was going to do with that oil-on-canvas that I impulsively tore into little squares last year ;)

Stage 3

Stage 3 detail

V:  Added US pennies because I liked how the building on the penny reflects the pattern below the figures, which is actually a building.

Stage 2

C: I added a layer of painted texture UNDER the tag. (Not so easy!)

Stage 1
V: I used metallic paint and a collage on a wardrobe label for first layer.

Puzzled

Stage 3

CY: The green and black were looking a bit hectic so I washed the whole field in white, enhanced the texture, then added some fabric-backed headlines. There seems to be a relation between the random puzzle pieces and the Twitter universe....

Stage 2
Stage 2 - Val adds the puzzle pieces to my ground of tinted acrylic medium embedded with crayon shavings.
